Leica Acquire App Reviews
I use Leica Acquire for imaging C. elegans, and I had to spend my first week with the software measuring microns/pixel (this can be done automatically with the PC version), and troubleshooting why the image acquistion time was so inconsistent (between 4 and 40 seconds: the culprit was the auto Exposure/Gain function in Live Video mode). It seems that the average image acquistion time for this software is ~6 seconds even without auto exposure. If that could be cut in half, I’d be happy, and half again I’d be ecstatic. It’s fine, but make sure you have someone in the lab running the PC version so you can see what the program should be like.
Worked for 1.5 days then started crashing as soon as the microscope (EZ HD4) was connected. remove App/ clear all cache and prefs files/ install again from the App store, no change.
Please fix!
I know education isn't a big spender for Leica. However we are now stuck with four of these scopes and none work as advertized. It would be a HUGE benefit to their user base if they could make a functional app and/or make the drivers available so we can simply use the camera on a third party system. As it stands I can't do anything with these scopes.
Trash
I have a S9i that I can barely connect to anything. This companies software is so fragmented that its amlost impossible to know what is supported by any particular program. I have litterally dicthed this beautiful scope for a DINOLITE, simply because the software FUNCTIONS AT ALL. Leica, PLEASE do something. Your equpitment is much better than the current state of your software. It is very unfortunate.
Bad update 2.12.2021
The new update has bugs, only shows the bottom left of the microscope view. Could you please fix
Neglected, out-of-date app
One would think that a company as large as Leica could put the bare minimum into software updates to AT LEAST ensure that their current offerings support the current version of MacOS (Big Sur). This app is an embarrassment to the premium-quality product the company purports to offer.
Buggy - poor directions
There doesn't seem to be any way to enlargen the view of a photo in the software - I'm stuck with a 2x2.5" box in the corner. Zooming only enlargens within this small box. Controls are generally not very intuitive. Really feels this app was an after-thought.
Please update!
This app still does not work on a MacBookPro Mojave. What good a microscope that cannot be used? Numerous calls to your tech team have not helped. Very disappointed! Come on Leica!
This is a piece of crap
Don't waste your time downloading this app. It crashes continually and only ocationally communicates with the scope.

Not working MacbookPro Mojave
crashes with mojave update
Please fix...
Won’t work on High Sierra with latest update
Pros: - take photos. - connects to microscope over wifi. Cons: - can’t crop photos. - changing annotation defaults takes several tries before it acually changes the setting. - can’t edit annotations without crashing. - can’t cant edit photos or annotations at all after it crashes while editing annotations. - stops responding when you try editing a photo that you were trying to edit when it crashed.

Takes start up time, but it works
